Thousands and thousands of photons make up solar rays that reach earth. These photons hold different amounts of energy that correspond with their matching patterns on the solar scale. Solar cells pull on this energy and when electrons hit the surface of the cell they either go straight through, reflect, or absorb into the device.
In order to produce energy, enough of the photons have to be absorbed so as to gain a certain amount of electricity. When that happens the electrons are dislodged from the atoms. At least not by itself, which is why they usually come by the dozens unless inserted in a small device like a night light, outdoor lamp, etc.
The station has anemometers to measure wind, pyranometers to measure solar energy, and thermometers for temperature. Information from all of these signals are sent to an acquisition system where the data can be analyzed on a scheduled bases.
The electrical distribution panel sends energy that’s received from all of this and combines it with the electrical current that’s already available in your home.
