LED Bulbs Are Energy Efficient And Work A Long Time

LED means light emitting diode bulb. Almost everyone has some LED bulbs in their home as they are what makes the numbers of digital clocks light. Traditional light bulbs have a filament inside the bulb that burns to make light and make the bulb hot but LEDs work differently and never feel hot. Moving electrons are what gives the LED its light producing qualities.

LED bulbs come in several different colors. They are generally not good for lamps because they do not have a 360 degree radius of light. The light comes from the front of the bulb making them good for ceiling lights that would shine directionally downward.

You would not get enough light from one lonely LED bulb to see anything in the dark. To make what is called an LED bulb they take a grouping of tiny bulbs and put them inside a housing. The many lights can look like a traditional light bulb that uses 40 to 100 watts. Today producers of LEDs are trying to make reflectors that will reflect brighter and make the bulb seem to be brighter.

Traditional light bulbs waste about 80 percent of the electricity they use by producing heat. LED bulbs stay cool and therefore, do not use as much electricity. Traditional bulbs break very easily but LED lights are almost indestructible. They are contained within a resin epoxy.

LED lights tend to be a little bit expensive at about USD $40 per bulb. However, what was paid in the price of the bulb will definitely be saved in the amount of electricity used and how long the bulb will last. They are certainly more eco friendly than any other light bulb made today.

There are many advantages to replacing some transitional light bulbs with bulbs of LED technology. It is said they can last for a whopping 50,000 hours and that equals 10 years keeping the lights on for 8 hours a day. LEDs use less than 10 percent of the amount of electricity that a regular bulb uses.

They are eco friendly not only because of the energy they save but because not as many get thrown away. They stay in use a long time and hardly have to ever get thrown in the trash. Another great thing is that you actually can throw them away. There is nothing in the LED light bulb that can harm the environment. The only problem the bulbs seem to have is not being quite bright enough for close work. Manufacturers are working on that problem and will hopefully have it solved in the very near future.

The technology today with light bulbs has came a long way and today you will find LED light bulbs have become very useful. The LED bulbs can be purchased in a general store all over the world and provides a good amount of light.
